Orissa signs MoU for three Cement Plants

Bhubaneswar, Nov 10 (UNI) Orissa Cement Limited, Grasim Industries and ASO Cement today signed MoUs with the Orissa government to set up cement plants in the state.

The Grasim had planned to set up a 3.5 MTPA Cement plant at Sundargarh and a 50 MW captive power plant with an investment of Rs 1200 crore.

The Orissa Cement Limited(OCL), which has a cement plant in Rajgangpur in Sundargarh district, had proposed to establish a 0.9 MTPA grinding facility, 60 MW captive power plants and a new Klin line of 4000 ton per day with an investment of Rs 850 crore.

The ASO Cement would establish a 0.5 MTPA with 1000 ton per day clinker and 1350 ton per day grinding at Sundargarh with an investment of Rs 130 crore.

Welcoming the MoUs, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, the three projects would provide a revenue generation of more than Rs 150 crores for the state per year and create employment opportunities for 3500 people.

He hoped all the cement plants would install the state of art pollution control measures and take up tree plantation for effective environmental management.
