One more arrested for Landge's murder

Pune, Nov 10 (UNI) One more person was today arrested in connection with the murder of corporator and BJP Pimpri-Chinchwad unit president Ankush Landge, taking the total number of arrests in the case to seven.

Police arrested Nilesh Pillay from the Bhosari area near here today.

Three more persons were arrested in connection with the murder of Chandrakant Sopan Dhavade, who was killed on the same day as Landge.

The three have been identified as Deepak Ray, Yogendra Rawat alias Chenya and Sachin Raotade.

Police had yesterday arrested six persons in connection with Landge's murder. They were identified as Sangram Pundalik Dhavde, Sagar Dhavde, Sachin Dhavde, Pundalik Dhavde, Sachin Laingayat and Sambhaji Jadhav. All the six have been remanded in police custody till November 18.

The murders were a fallout of a political rivalry between the BJP and the Congress.

Two more persons were killed -- one of them has been identified as Sagar Hanumant Shenkar, while the other victim, who was burnt to death, is yet to be identified.

The incident occured late Tuesday evening when a brawl broke out between BJP and Congress workers. Landge tried to intervene but was killed along with the three others.
