Nine Maoists killed in encounter

Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 10 (UNI) Nine Maoists, including five women, were killed in an encounter with the police near Budvel on the borders of Nellore and Kadapa districts early today.

According to initial information, Obuleshu, party Rayalaseema Committee Secretary and member of the AP State Committee was suspected to be among the dead.

Police came to the conclusion that Obuleshu was among the dead as they found an AK-47 assault rifle among the weapons seized from the site of the encounter.

They said that an AK-47 rifle was generally given to a state committee member.

A police party combing the forests countered a group of Naxalites. The Naxals opened fire and in the gunfight, the ultras were killed, the sources said.
