MP HC issues notice to Govt on DMAT-related irregularities

Jabalpur, Nov 10 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today issued notices to the state government and the Centre on a petition challenging not granting students, who came in the merit list of Dental and Medical Admission Test (DMAT), admissions in private dental and medical colleges as per rules.

Hearing a petition filed by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and other petitions, a bench comprising Chief Justice Anang Kumar Patnaik and Justice Ravishankar Jha issued notices to the Chief Secretary, the state Health Secretary, the Union Health Secretary, the Medical Council of India and private and medical dental colleges and sought replies by December 8.

The High Court directed the Medical Education department to keep intact documents related to results and merit-list of DMAT-2006.

Petitioner's counsel Pushpendra Jain told the court that the rule that successful DMAT candidates, who had secured 50 per cent marks as minimum eligibility criteria, was not followed.
