Maoists hold victory rallies
Kathmandu, Nov 10 (UNI) The Maoists today organised victory rallies in Kathmandu and across the country to celebrate the signing of a historic agreement with the Seven Party Alliance government ending the 10 year long insurgency in the Himalayan nation.
''Thousands of Maoist cadres and supporters have taken out rallies from different parts of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur that converged at the Khulla Manch in the capital for the mass meeting,'' Kantipur radio stated.
Reports also indicate that rallies are being held in various parts of the country.
The agreement has paved way for formation of an interim government with the Maoists, announcement of an interim constitution, management of the arms in possession of rebels under the supervision of the UN and holding elections to enable the Constituent Assembly to write a new Constitution and decide the future of the monarchy.
Various countries and organisations including India, UK, Denmark and Switzerland have welcomed the agreement which was signed on Tuesday night.
