Call for nation-wide strike on Dec 14
Kolkata, Nov 10 (UNI) Nearly eight million government and semi-government workers across the country are expected to join a nation-wide strike on December 14 to protest against the anti-employee policies of the UPA government at the Centre.
All India State Government Employees Federation general secretary Sukomal Sen said the federation would also observe anti-Pension Privatisation Day on December five across the nation.
The agitation calls were given after an executive body meeting of the federation in Lucknow yesterday.
Mr Sen, in a statement, today said the government has proposed to handover the administration of pension schemes to private parties.
The meeting noted that the Union government and many state governments were persuing ''anti-people'' policies of World Bank and the IMF.
The federation said if the governments did not stop persuing such policies then it would intensify the agitation in near future.
In a separate resolution, the meeting condemned the ''draconian anti-strike circular'' of Karnataka Government and demanded to withdraw forthwith.
