Uma asks RSS to reconsider cooperation to BJP

Bhopal, Nov 9 (UNI) Bharatiya Jan Shakti (BJS) Founder-President Uma Bharti today advised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to reconsider its decision to cooperate with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that had ''renounced'' nationalism, Hindu ideology and morality.

''I am saddened about the RSS cooperating with the BJP that encourages feudal terror and monarchy,'' the firebrand sadhvi told journalists here.

Responding to a question on an RSS endeavour to reinduct her in the BJP, she admitted that such attempts were made but after the BJS was formed, she herself rejected the moves.

Executing a political somersault, Ms Bharti described former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and ex-deputy premier L K Advani as ''worthy of respect'' and added that the BJP's second line of leadership was playing the politics of hatred.

''Due to the second-line leadership, the duo are unable to provide proper guidelines. Remaining mute spectators to the erosion of ideology is lethal not only for the party organisation but also for the country,'' she added.

The sanyasin alleged that Madhya Pradesh's ruling BJP government, which is ''intoxicated by power,'' stooped to employ every devious means for ensuring victory at the October 30 bypolls to Vidisha parliamentary constituency and Malehra assembly constituency.

''A legal challenge to electoral malpractice at Malehra is yet to be considered,'' she explained.

In the context of All India Congress Committee General Secretary and former chief minister Digvijay Singh raising, in the Assembly, the issue of an alleged assault on her in Malehra Vidhan Sabha constituency, Ms Bharti said the Congress might have raised the issue for political reasons but she did not doubt that party's sympathy.

''However, I will definitely like to know about the comments BJP MLAs made on the issue. The BJP is attempting to destroy my family due to political vendetta and I never imagined that the party could take such an abhorrent step. During BJP rule in Madhya Pradesh, incidents of harassment of dalits, women and the poor are on the upward spiral,'' she added.
