Tarundeep,Dola, Jhanu enter semfinals

Jamshedpur, Nov 9 (UNI) Despite disqualification of Jayanta Talukdar in the men's Recurve event, International archer Tarundeep Rai, Mangal Singh and Vishwas entered the men's semifinals, while Dola Banerjee and Reena Kumari will clash in the semifinal of women's Recurve in the second Commonwealth Archery Championship at J R D Tata sports complex here today.

In the men's quarter final of recurve event, medal aspirant Tarundeep scored 113 points over England's Michael Peart(105 points).

In the other semifinals Indian duo Vishwas and Mangal Singh will meet in the final after getting the better of Simon Needham of Scotland and Roy Nash of England respectively.

In the women's semifinal both England and Indian archers will face their compatriots.

In the quarterfinals, Dola bagged 111 points over England's C Burgess and Reena (108 points) overcame Punya Prabha to meet Dola in the semis.

England's Naomi Folkard and Alison Willamson will lock horn in the semis.

However, in the men's individual compound round Indians failed to reach the semifinals as Newzealand's S I Clifton, England's Steve Dixon South African R A Venter and Scotland's Andrew Ward were the semifinalists.

In the women's individual compound event Indias gold medal prospect Jhanu Hansda and Manjudha Soy stormed into the semis beating Australia's Sherry Gale and England's Nichola Simpson respectively.

While Jhanu will meet Linda Garner of England,Soy will clash with England's Andera Gale in the semis.
