Senior IGMC doctor commits suicide in HP
Shimla, Nov 9 (UNI) A senior Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) doctor, who had been missing since yesterday afternoon, has committed suicide by jumping from a bridge in Bilaspur district early this morning, police and hospital sources said.
The Himachal Pradesh police recovered Prof Vijay Sharma's body at about 0730 hrs today near Kandror Bridge, after a passerby informed the police of the body.
Mr Sharma, Head of the Microbiology Department in the IGMC, was missing since yesterday afternoon and sources said they had found a note from his room in which he had written that he was not fit for this world and no one should be held accountable for his death.
The sources said the doctor had stayed in a guesthouse last night at Solan, before being to the bridge from where he jumped down.
A senior IGMC doctor, requesting anonymity, told UNI here that the doctor was identified by his identity card recovered from his pocket by the district police.
Senior Medical Superintendent Hardayal Chauhan, IGMC Principal Surender Kashyap and several others have expressed shock and grief over his death.
