Rocket motor casing handed over

Chennai, Nov 9 (UNI) A Motor casing of special steel material, fabricated by a private engineering firm for the presitigous Agni missile programme, was formally handed over to the DRDO here today.

After undergoing various qualification tests, the rocket motor, which was expected to provide 15 to 20 per cent better performance both in terms of range and wait, was handed to Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister and DRDO Chairman M Natarajan, at a function held at the Ramakrishna Engineering Company (RKE) here.

The efforts of the RKE in realising the motor which involved critical technologies was also greatly appreciated by the DRDO Chief.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Natarajan commended the effort as an excellent example of DRDO-Industry partnership in critical technology areas.

RKE is a leading manufacturer of aerospace and defence hardwares for ISRO, DRDL, HAL, Ordinance Factories catering to AGNI, PSLV, GSKLV, Lakshya and other National aerospace programmes.
