Public Service Broadcasting Awards announced
New Delhi, Nov 9 (UNI) The All India Radio (AIR) announced the Public Service Broadcasting Awards today.
According to an AIR release issued here, these awards were instituted on November 12, 2001 to commemmorate the only visit of Mahatma Gandhi to the studios of AIR at broadcasting house, here on the same day in 1947.
These annual awards are given to the best programme produced on Gandhian philosophy and the best public service programme by AIR and Doordarshan (DDN) The Gandhian Philosophy award was bagged by "Hey Ram" in Kannada language produced by Dharward Doordarshan Kendra and "Ek Tukda Itihas" in Hindi language from DDK, Delhi.
Under the Public service programme category, the award was bagged by "Onpatham Ward" in Malyalam language which came from the AIR, Thiruvananthapuram and DDK Guwahati also bagged the award for its entry "Buniyad" in Assamese language, the release added.
