Police register case against teacher for assaulting student

Chennai, Nov 9 (UNI) Police have registered a case against a teacher of the Kendriya Vidyalaya at suburban Pazhavanthangal for allegedly assualting a ninth standard student.

Police said the student Vijeyendra Singh, son of Mr Yadhav, working as a havildar in Coast Guard, used to argue with his class teacher Vasudevan on several occasions.

Irritated by the student's behaviour, the teacher took him to a laboratory and severelly assualted him yesterday, following which, the student fell unconscious.

On information, the parents of the student rushed to the school and took their son to a nearby private hospital for treatment.

Based on a complaint from the parents, the police registered a case and were on the lookout for the teacher, who was absconding, police added.
