PMK warns of agitation
Cuddalore, Nov 9 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) vice-president T Velmurugan today warned that the party would launch a massive agitation in Cuddalore, to protest against police atrocities on PMK activists in the district.
Talking to newspersons here he alleged that almost all the police officals in this district were AIADMK supporters and in the last three months, more than 100 cases were registered against PMK volunteers in 15 villages here.
Police were violating all norms to intrude into the houses on the pretext of arresting the accused. Cases were being registered by pro-AIADMK officals to force the PMK to quit the DMK alliance, he charged.
The issue was brought to the notice of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, but no action was taken yet, he charged.
He charged that the police officals in the district were responsible for the three lock-up deaths in the district, of which two were PMK workers.
He urged the government to provide a compensation of Rs 10 lakhs to the families of the deceased and a government job to one in each family. Mr Velmurugan said some police officals had threatened to shoot the PMK district secretary in public and demanded that they be suspended immediately.
