PDFA to take action against defaulting teams
Pune, Nov 9 (UNI) Newly-elected Poona District Football Association (PDFA) president Vishwajeet Kadam today said efforts will not be spared to take tough action against teams which participate in illegal and unauthorised tournaments.
The PDFA has started new registeration of teams from November 1 and the last date for receiving the registeration is November 20.
Though some unscruplous elements have started hosting unauthorised tournaments, the association cannot take action against the participating teams till November 20.
''We will wait till receiving the registeration forms with due affiliation and registeration fees from the teams who wish to come under the fold of the PDFA, and then decide the course of action,'' Mr Kadam said.
The PDFA executive committee will meet on November 25 and decide on the course of action against defaulting teams, he added.
''The PDFA will not bow down to the dictats of some unruly and unsatisfied elements who are trying to put spokes in the smooth working of the association,'' said Mr Kadam who has taken over as PDFA president after protracted legal battles with rival groups.
Because of the group rivalry, players from Pune and the game itself has suffered a lot, Mr Kadam said, adding that his aim would be to revive the game.
