MP Assy Speaker asks for security for MLA
Bhopal, Nov 9 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani today directed Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to provide security to MLA Kapoorchand Ghuwara (Bharatiya Janata Party), who recently emerged victorious in the prestigious Malehra Vidhan Sabha bypoll.
Earlier, Mr Ghuwara created a flutter in the House when he said that some persons assaulted him here today.
''Former chief minister Uma Bharti's supporters constitute a threat to my life,'' he alleged, sparking off stiff objection from the main opposition Congress that asked Mr Ghuwara to reveal his injuries.
Mr Ramlakhan Sharma (Communist Party of India-Marxist) said that a few women were injured when police used force on Bharatiya Jan Shakti workers.
''An assault was attempted on me in the Police Headquarters premises while I was returning after meeting senior officers for demanding action against Ms Bharti in earlier criminal cases. At that time Ms Bharti and her supporters were present there,'' Mr Ghuwara later told journalists.
