Mizoram govt to develop another sanctuary
Aizawl, Nov 9 (UNI) As part of tourism development, Mizoram government has decided to come up with a wildlife sanctuary in Vairengte area, the bordering village of Asom and Mizoram.
Vairengte, transit point of the state as well as the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) of Indian army is located in the village where various foreign armed forces are being given regular training.
State Environment and Forests Minister R Lalthangliana said here today with the report of presence of some rare animal specis in the area forest department has taken expeditious steps to announce a wildlife sanctuary in the area for their preservation.
He said considering importance of the village, state government has drawn up a comprehensive plan to develop drinking water distribution system.
''The locality has been suffering from inadequate basic aminities for long and it has virtully effected the CIJWS also,'' Mr Lalthangliana said.
He said a weigh-bridge has already been commissioned in Vairengte following the decision of exporting bamboo to Bangladesh while a new fire station, hospital upgradation and the roads to reach outlying hamlets near Vairengte, would be constructed.
