Man gets lifer for killing seven year child

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 9 (UNI) A local court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping and murdering a seven-year-old girl.

The prosecution case was that Maria of Pulluvila, near here, was raped and killed by Gilbert on Christmas day in 2004.

Maria, who went to a lakeside, was found missing on that day and her body was found in a deserted place the next day.

Gilbert was arrested after months when he got involved in a case of theft of a gold chain. It was found out that the gold chain belonged to Maria.

The gold ornament belonging to the girl was recovered from the gold merchant where gilbert had sold it.

The Additional Sessions Court pronounced the sentence.
