Jharkhand Party(N) threatens to lodge PIL

Jamshedpur, Nov 9 (UNI) Jharkhand Party (Naren) today threatened to lodge a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against the government employees if they fail to give compensation to the villagers of Ichagarh block under Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

JP (N) general secretary Shailendra Maithy told UNI that hundreds of party workers demonstrated before the Sub-divisional officer's office at Ichagarh on November seven demanding compensation for the villagers from the remote areas.

Mr Maithy said the activists led by party leader Suchan Singh submitted a memorandum to the SDO demanding compensation from the BDO, Marketing officer and Panchayat inspector.

He also said the villagers would file PIL against the officials if they did not provide adequate compensation within seven days.

People of Ichagarh, that comes under deputy chief minister Sudhir Mahto's assembly constituency, had to suffer financial loss as they were not allowed to meet the officers, Mr Maity said.

'' It is not the only case, the same thing has happened in all the blocks and sub-divisions of the state,'' he added.

Though the newly formed Koda government claimed to work from the grass-root level, the scenario was just opposite as the officers were found absent most often, he regretted.

He said the government employees were accountable to the people and should be aware of their problems.

Mr Maithy had urged the government to take stringent action upon those who were found guilty for dereliction of duty.
