GE Water secures $6.5mn order from Tata Chemicals
New Delhi, Nov 9: GE Water and Process Technologies, a unit of GE Infrastructure, today announced it has won its first sea water desalination plant project in India from Tata Chemicals Ltd valued at 6.5 million dollars.
Under the contract, the company would provide Tata Chemicals a Mobile Sea Water Desalination plant for four years of operation on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis.
By supplying 5.8 million litres per day of Industrial water and reducing energy and overall costs, the project will lessen water scarcity issues presently being faced by Tata Chemicals.
''We are deeply committed to using innovative technologies to help improve the quality of life of the local community without adversely affecting the environment,'' Tata Chemicals Chemicals Business, COO R Mukundan said.
GE Water&Process Technologies, India Country Manager H Bala said that order from Tata Chemicals will help install the first ever desalination plant in India.
GE's latest desalination technology is capable of producing up to 3,00,000 million litres per day of high quality potable water while also helping to minimise water shortages.
