Four killed in wall collapse in city

Visakhapatnam, Nov 9 (UNI) Four people, including two women were killed and one seriously injured, in a wall collapse at Simhagiri Ambedkar Colony in the city here.

Police today said the incident occurred last night when a massive chunk of a newly constructed retaining wall fell on a house located in the foothill, killing the four.

The victims were identified as M Daralamma (35), M Nagaraju(40), Chinnammalu (30) and Dileep (4).

Chinnammallu's husband Apparao sustained critical injuries and was admitted to KGH Hospital here.

Police officials, fire service personnel and the district revenue officials were working in tandem with the relatives of those trapped.

Heavy rains lashed the city and surrounding areas for over an hour in the night, flooding many parts of city, especially the low-lying areas.

The bodies were retrieved from the debris.

A case has been registered and an investigation was underway, police added.
