Former TN Speaker laid to rest

Sivakasi, Nov 9 (UNI) The mortal remains of former Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker and frontline AIADMK leader K Kalimuthu, who died in Chennai yesterday, was laid to rest at his native Ramuthevanpatti village near here today.

The body of the deceased leader, who entered politics during his student days in the Anti-Hindi agitation, was brought to his ancestral home by road from Chennai early this morning.

Prominent leaders and functionaries of various political parties, including Mr Vaiko of MDMK, O Panneerselvam of the AIADMK, S Thirunavukkarasar of the BJP paid their last respects to the departed leader.

Relatives and supporters bid a tearful adieu to the former speaker when the funeral procession was taken out in the afternoon.

The body was laid to rest near the grave of the deceased leader's mother at the family estate in the tiny village.
