Former legislator Ramalingam passes away

Puducherry, Nov 9 (UNI) Former member of the territorial assembly P Ramalingam died following brief illness here today.

According to family sources, he was 63. He is survived by three sons and two daughters.

Ramalingam was elected to the territorial assembly in 1980 from Nellithoppe constituency on a DMK ticket. He had fought for liberation of Puducherry from French rule as a member of the Communist Party of India (CPI). But he quit the CPI and joined the DMK in 1969.

The funeral will take place here at 1000 hrs tomorrow.
