Fever cases come down

Puducherry, Nov 9 (UNI) The cases of fever reported in Karaikalmedu has drastically come down due to timely measures taken by the administration,according to health department sources today.

In an informal chat with newspersons on the side lines of the inauguration of the Integrated Diseases surveillance programme here the sources said as many as 473 cases of fever were reported from the fishermen hamlet and a medical team from Puducherry visited the area to provid necessary medical relief. About 23 blood samples were taken for Chickungunya, the sources said.

The administration had made an arrangement with the Vector Control Research Centre here for virology identification and they could inform the government in two days whether there is any case of Chickunguniya.

As many as 200 to 250 cases of fever were reported from Kalapet here in one day out of a population of 16000. This was also contained with timely action. People from neighbouring Tamil Nadu also used to come for treatment at the Kalapet primary health centre for treatment,the sources said.
