Efforts on to expedite NRHM in J'khand
Ranchi, Nov 09 (UNI) To reduce Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and population and to expedite National Rural Health Mission (NRHM)in Jharkhand, a workshop was organised here today.
Briefing about the NRHM, state health department joint secretary D.K.Srivastava said the state's health sector has improved in the last few years.
Mr Srivastava said compared to the 58 per cent IMR at the national level, the state's statistics had reduced to 49 from 70 per thousand in 2005-06.
Mr Srivastava said about 98.2 per cent population was covered under pulse polio programme. About 90.5 per cent people were aware of the use of disposable syringe, he added.
Explaining NHRM's future plans, he said the infrastructure of the hospitals were being improved from divisional headquarters to the block level.
Mr Srivastava said efforts were on involve traditional herbal treatment system and modern system for 'zero diarrhoea project'.
He said financial assistance of Rs 10,000 were provided to the rural health units and would be jointly operated by the Aanganbari Sevikas.
