Dillip challanges Naveen on Orissa Mining policy

Bhubaneswar, Nov 09 (UNI) Rajya Sabha Member Dillip Ray today challanged Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to participate in a public debate over the industrial progress of the state and the mining policy.

In an open letter to the Chief Minister, copies of which were released to the press here, Mr Ray asked ten simple questions to Mr Patnaik on his so called huge investment in the state, handing over mineral resources to the business houses and signing of a large number of MoUs for Steel Plants.

The former Union Minister member said the state government has no moral right to handover the mines, keeping the 30 years' demand of the industries in view, while ignoring the necessity of the resources for the next hundred years.

He said as against the deposit of 152 crores tonnes of iron ore, the state government had signed the MoU with 45 industrial houses promising them to provide 278 crores tonne of iron ore and asked the Chief Minister from where he would get the additional requirement of iron ore.
