Democrat win may change US human rights policy: Speaker
Moscow, Nov 9 (UNI) Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov today said the Democrat victory in the US midterm Congressional elections, may change the US foreign policy in relation to Russia in the human rights sphere.
''It seems to me that the Democrats have more wish to use double standards on human rights questions,'' Mr Gryzolov told reporters.
Stressing that Democrats were always 'zealous fighter for human rights' Mr Gryzlov said changes may occur in the Russian-US dialogue.
However, he said the State Duma would succeed ''to build relations with the new US parliament.'' ''We had sufficiently close relations at the inter-parliamentary level. A meeting at the level of parliament leaders is planned in the nearest future, the Speaker noted.
He also expressed hope that the US foreign policy would become more balanced ''where it concerns the use of armed forces beyond the bounds of the US.'' UNI XC MQA MIR RN1919
