Curfew relaxed for 5 hours in Kamptee
Nagpur, Nov 9 (UNI) Curfew has been relaxed for five hours this afternoon in Kamptee town, which was imposed following a widespread violence on Monday night in the wake of the massacre of four members of a dalit family by the Khairlanji villagers in the Bhandara district of Vidarbha region recently.
Superintendent of Police (Nagpur Rural) Yashaswi Yadav said the curfew was relaxed from 1300 hrs to 1800 hrs today because in the situation in the town had improued. He has been camping there since the trouble broke out.
Meanwhile, some miscreants burnt tyres at two places in Nagpur this morning, but the overall situation in the city remained peaceful.
Nagpur witnessed sporadic incidents of violence and arson in the past two days in protest against the Khairlanji killings.
Surekha Bhotmange (44), daughter Priyanka (18) and sons Roshan (23) and Sudhir (21) were done to death by a mob in Khairlanji on September 30 over a land dispute.
