Congress leader passes away

Udaipur, Nov 9 (UNI) Veteran Congress leader and former Minister Gulab Singh Shaktawat passed away in Udaipur today following a heart attack.

He was 77. The cremation will take place here tomorrow.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and four daughters.

Shaktawat was admitted at the Maharana Bhupal Hospital on Tuesday evening on complaints of chest pain. He breathed his last at the hospital at about 11 hrs today.

Shaktawat had won on a Congress ticket from the Ballabnagar Assembly seat in 1957, 1967, 1972, 1985, 1993 and 1998 elections.

He was a minister in the Haridev Joshi, Shiv Charan Mathur and Ashok Gehlot governments holding important portfolios.
