Bharti to give telecom infrasructure to Adani
New Delhi, Nov 9 (UNI) Telecom major Bharti Airtel today announced an alliance with the Adani group for setting up a telecommunications network infrastructure for the latter's multi-sector special economic zone located at Mundra port.
The MoU to roll out end-to-end telecom solutions for Mundra port and Special Economic Zone (MPSEZ) was signed between Bharti Airtel Ltd Joint President Vinod Sawhny and Adani Group Chief Financial Officer (Infrastructure) Ameet H Desai.
However, no financial details were available.
Under the agreement, Bharti Airtel will set up the telecom corridor connecting the Mundra port and SEZ site nationally and internationally.
This joint initiative between the two companies is critical for the development of MPSEZ, one of the largest multi-sector operational SEZs.
The telecom infrastructure within the SEZ will be rolled out in a phased manner and will cover all areas within the SEZ, including the port and the power plant areas.
Bharti Airtel will enable Adani Group to realise its objective of making Mundra Port and SEZ the most preferred destination offering world-class infrastructure, services and multimodal connectivity for global business, living, learning and recreation.
''The partnership with the Adani Group is a great beginning to realise the vision of SEZs in the country,'' Mr Sawhny said.
As part of the agreement, Bharti aims to equip the MPSEZ with world-class data, fixed voice and mobile services, besides providing managed hosting and business resiliency and continuity services.
Under managed hosting services, Bharti will not only host and manage the data and applications for enterprises based at MPSEZ but also provide them with end-to-end connectivity and video surveillance and create a MPLS VPN.
Companies will also be able to safeguard themselves against any unforeseen disasters by having access to back up of critical business data and applications through the business resiliency and continuity services offered by Bharti.
The Adani Group is one of the leading players in the global trading and development of infrastructure with interests ranging edible oil, agro products, agri logistics, retail, power, coal, oil and gas exploration, gas distribution, real estate, ports, SEZ, ITes, etc.
The Mundra Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd, a member of the Adani Group manages one of the largest privately developed port and multi-sector SEZ spread over 100sq kms area in the Kutchh peninsula.
