Anticipatory bail granted to Kanakapura BDO

Bangalore, Nov 9 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today granted anticipatory bail to a Block Development Officer from Kanakapura taluk in 19 complaints filed with regard to the fake appointment order scam in the Education Department.

Allowing a batch of criminal petitions filed by Mr T R Narayana Gowda, Mr Justice A C Kabbin granted anticipatory bail upon executing a personal bond for Rs 30,000 with a surety for a like sum and on the condition that he should appear before the Investigating Officer within 15 days, when he would be interrogated.

It was further ordered that if the interrogation revealed any information leading to discovery of any article/material, the IO should recover it in accordance with law. It was further directed that the petitioner should not threaten or attempt to threaten any prosecution witness and he should attend court on all dates of hearing.

The case pertained to the issuance of fake appointment orders to many teachers in Kanakapura at a time when Mr Gowda was working as the BDO, Kanakapura taluk. He was taken into custody in one such complaint for some time. Later, he was placed under suspension and released on bail in that case. He had obtained anticipatory bail from the High Court in another case.
