Kohima, Nov 8 (UNI) The Nagaland government has "flouted" the National Oral Health Policy guidelines, according to the Indian Dental Association(Nagaland).
The Indian Dental Association, Nagaland State Branch (IDANSB) said here today that according to the guideline, there should be one dental surgeon for every 10,000 people in the country. But Nagaland has only one dentist for 1.2 lakh people.
The association also said as per the guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Oral Health Care Delivery System should be set up for rural people in Community Health Centres. But the state does not have any such facilities.
In a representation to the state Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary, the Indian Dental Association, Nagaland state branch (IDANSB) has urged the state government to create more posts for dental surgeon in the state to meet the demand of oral health care system, particularly in the rural areas.
