Pay hike for nurses in TN

Chennai, Nov 8 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government today brought 2636 nurses under timebound pay scale and announced hike in consolidated pay for 2540 nurses with effect from September one this year.

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today said based on seniority, 2636 nurses working in medical colleges, government hospitals and primary health centres were brought under regular pay scale.

The nurses, drawing consolidated payment of Rs 2500 as salary, were brought under the pay scale Rs 5000-150-8000, an official release said.

Mr Karunanidhi also announced hike in consolidated pay for 2540 nurses working under the Maternity and Child Welfare and Tamil Nadu Health Scheme.

From Rs 2500 per month, the government had hiked their salary to Rs 3500 in the first year, Rs 4000 in the second and Rs 5000 in the third year.

The government would also appoint nurses based on seniority to fill vacancies as and when they arose under regular pay scale.
