Notice to authorities to develop commercial complexes in capital
New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today issued notices to the Centre, Delhi Government and Delhi Development Authority(DDA) on a PIL seeking direction to the authorities to develop commercial land on urgent basis and allot shops to public at a concessional rates in view of the sealing and demolition of commercial establishments in the Capital.
A division bench of acting Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Kailash Gambhir asked the respondents to file their replies by February 6, 2007, the next date of hearing.
Saaransh, the Welfare Association, in a petition submitted that ''No effort has been made by the DDA to develop the commercial land at a rapid pace or allot them for commercial purposes.'' Growing at an unprecedented pace, the city must be equipped to face the contemporary challenges, the petition said.
The planners while preparing the master plan for the capital city did not expect that the economic growth and increase in commercial activities would be such an extent that it would be difficult to contain the growth, said the petition.
