NEC for better education in NE region
Aizawl, Nov 7 (UNI) North Eastern Council (NEC) has set up a committee - North Eastern Regional Educational Council(NEREC)- to oversee and strengthen the infrastructure of education system in the Northeast.
This council would also emphasis on having Information Technology in all schools of the region, the official sources here today informed.
All the vice chancellors from all the NE universities would be NEREC members, under the umberlla of NEC.
The council would be giving priority especially to the subjects like science and mathematics and for which NEREC will undertake training and orientation programmes for all teachers at primary level. NEREC would help the schools in translating science and maths books in local languages.
In the area of IT education, NEREC, with the help of the Centre ERNET India would also set up point to point high speed links in ten universities including Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim.
These links will help the students and faculty of the universities to acccess internet, host web servers and access E-Journals, distance learning and digital library.
