New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) Larsen&Toubro Ltd today said its Oman-based joint venture L&T Modular Fabrication Yard (L&T MFY) LLC has set up its first modular fabrication facility in Oman with the signing of an agreement with Sohar Industrial Port company.

With the new modular fabrication facility spread over an area of 4,00,000 sq m at Sohar in north Oman, the company expects to significantly augment the country's industrial base by manufacturing latest generation products for the offshore oil and gas sector.

In addition to the GCC countries, the products will find markets in Africa and South Asia.

The yard will have facilities for heavy structural fabrication, sophisticated equipment and systems integration and testing, and load-out of ultra-large modules, a company statement said.

L&T MFY is a joint venture with Zubair Corporation, one of the leading industrial houses in Oman with a long history of developing associations worldwide.

The group comprises around 40 wholly-owned companies, subsidiaries and associates that have operations in the West Asia, India, Europe and the US.
