Former Speaker Kalimuthu passes away

Chennai, Nov 8: Former Tamil Nadu Speaker and AIADMK Presidium Chairman K Kalimuthu died due to heart ailment at a private hospital here early this morning.

He was 65 and is survived by his wife, four sons and five daughters.

Mr Kalimuthu, who began his political career during the time of late Chief Minister C N Annadurai, had also served as Local Administration and Agriculture Minister in the MGR Cabinet.

He was the Assembly Speaker during 2001-2006.

Mr Kalimuthu, had been undergoing treatment for heart ailment for a long time.

Mr Kalimuthu's body would be taken to his native village Ramudevanpatti in Sivakasi district for performing last rites, family sources said.
