Diplomat arrested for running gambling den at consulate
Singapore, Nov 8 (UNI) Senegal's honorary consul to Singapore has been arrested relating to investigations into a gambling den at the consulate's premises, according to media reports.
Benny Kusni, a 36-year old Indonesian businessman, was detained yesterday by Singaore police , which had busted a gambling den at the consul recently and arrested 31 people, including the chairman and two members of the consulate's Senegal Trade and Investment committee.
The consulate premises were used as a front for an illegal gambling den for local businessmen and their wives from dusk till dawn, reports said.
Mr Kusni had earlier denied being aware of the gambling den at the consulate but eventually consulted a lawyer and went to the police station, where he was arrested.
Mr Kusni is suspected of helping operate a common gambling house, an offence with three years imprisonment and a fine of 50,000 Singapore dollars.
