DESAM alleges two teachers of bribery
Imphal, Nov 8 (UNI) The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) here have alleged that two teachers were involved in bribery while giving arrears to the aided elementary school teachers at Imphal East.
DESAM's vice-president Devkumar Sharma alleged that the two teachers manipulated documents and siphoned off the arrear money of 185 teachers working in 64 aided junior high schools, primary and lower primary schools from May 1999 to September 2003.
He said the All Manipur United Aided Elementary School Teachers Association, had taken three per cent of the total amount as expenditure to meet the demands of the officials to approve the arrears.
The DESAM had asked the two teachers to hand over the illegaly collected Rs 1.45 lakhs, sources said.
