Demonstrations against Saddam's sentence
Kolkata, Nov 8(UNI) Workers of SUCI and Samajwadi Party held separate anti-US demonstrations in front of the American Center here today protesting the death sentence of the deposed Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
Shouting slogans against 'Anglo-US conspiracy', the demonstrators demanded intervention of the UPA Government for annulment of the sentence and held mock trials of US President George and UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.
In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, SUCI Secretary Provash Ghosh alleged that the trial of Saddam Hussein was a ''mockery of justice'' at the behest of the US and UK and defied the opinion of the people of the world.
'' You must endeavour to mobilise all other countries who are victims of the US imperialists so that they come forward to create pressure and the puppet Iraqi Government may not execute the judicial murder,'' he said.
