Dalmiya condoles Polly Umriagar's death
Kolkata, Nov 8 (UNI) Cricket Association of Bengal president Jagmohan Dalmiya today expressed condolence at the death of former Indian Test cricket captain Polly Umrigar, who died in Mumbai yesterday.
''His service to Indian cricket is unparalled,'' Dalmiya said in a message. ''Not only was he one of the finest all rounders that the country has ever produced, but he had also served as a Manager, selector and an administrator.'' Dalmiya maintained that ''not all cricketers prove to be good administrators, but Polly Kaka was an exception.'' He was the originator of various tournament rules of the Board that are still in vogue, Dalmiya said.
''Above all, I remember Polly Umrigar as a perfect gentleman, who acted as my friend, philosopher and guide,'' Dalmiya reminisced.
