CM, members condemn Aussie behaviour with Sharad Pawar

New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today condemned the Australian team's 'inappropriate behaviour' with BCCI President and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar during the 'ICC Champions Trophy' award ceremony.

In reply to a motion moved by Ramvir Singh Bidhuri of the Nationalist Congress Party condemning the behaviour of the Australian team, whose members nudged NCP leader Sharad Pawar from the Dais during a photo session after lifting the Cup, Ms Dikshit told the House that the Australian team's action was deplorable and the whole House condemned the incident.

''We felt hurt with the Australian team's behaviour which was deplorable and we all condemn what they did with BCCI head, Mr Pawar, who is a senior leader.'' However, she added, ''we have received reports that the Australian cricket team's captain had apologised for the incident and that the Australian Cricket Board too had ordered an enquiry into the episode.'' ''We welcome that step of the Australians also.'' Several members of the House supported the motion moved by Mr Bidhuri and supported by Shoaib Iqbal of the Janata Dal (S).

Mr Bidhuri had also demanded that the Australian High Commissioner here express regret over the team's behaviour.
