50 injured in a road accident

Barrackpore, Nov 08 (UNI) At least 50 people, including 20 women, were injured, some of them seriously, when a truck carrying them fell into a ditch on Duttafulia Road at Bajetala under Bangaon police station in North 24 Parganas today.

Police here said the truck was returning from Santipur in Nadia after attending "Ras" festival.

The seriously injured had been admitted to Bangaon sub-divisional hospital, while others were released after first aid.

The driver fled after the incident.

Police seized the truck.
