WTO export subsidy for pepper to continue
Kochi, Nov 7: The WTO Compatible Subsidy, to boost Indian export of pepper, will be allowed for another 9,000 more tonnes of pepper and related products till March 2007.
According to a Spices Board release here, the extension was made as only 11,000 tonnes of pepper and pepper products were accounted under the subsidy scheme since its announcement in October 2005.
The fall in production during the current season and the short fall in the global market was expected to raise Indian pepper prices in the near future, the release added.
