Troops gun down two militants in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 7 (UNI) Troops gunned down two militants in separate operations in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara today.

A defence spokesman said troops, on specific information, conducted search operations on suspected militant hideouts at Rajwar and Drangyari in general area of Chowkibal in Kupwara this morning.

On reaching a particular spot at Rajwar village, troops noticed a group of militants. When challenged, they opened fire which was retaliated in the ensuing gunfight, one ultra was gunned down.

In a similar incident at Drangyari today, troops gunned down another militant.

Two AK rifles, five hand grenades, two radio sets and a huge cache of ammunition were seized from the slain militants.

The identity of the slain ultras and their affiliation was yet to be ascertained, the spokesman said. The operation was still on when reports last came in, he added.

Troops also busted a militant hideout in Ganderbal area and seized one grenade launcher, six grenades, two RPG launchers, two AK magazines, six IED electric detonators and 103 rounds of ammunition today, the spokesman said.
