Kolkata, Nov 7 (UNI) Society for Common-Concern and Grievance Portal secretary Ajit Sarthi today condemned the death sentence to former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein by a speical Tribunal.

The NGO described the judgement as the "gravest crime against universal declaration of Human Rights".

"If the conviction is not set aside immediately, we, the social activists, shall move to South Eest Asia and West Asia to build up public opinion against the malafied and high handedness of Bush (President George Bush)", Mr Sarthi said in a statement.

He also expressed shock that the importance of Right to Information(RIT) was being undermined in some states including West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh.

"The formation of commission is incomplete and the Chief Information Commissioners and Commissioners are either retired or working bureaucrats. No RTI commission has any member who is non-partisan or a social activist", he rued.

He urged the state governments to accord the RTI law due respect.
