SC lawyer's killer, aides nabbed
Lucknow, Nov 7 (UNI) In a major breakthrough, the Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh Police today arrested the killer of a Supreme Court lawyer.
The accused told the police he had eliminated the lawyer at the behest of the latter's cousin, who had paid Rs 5 lakh to carry out the crime.
Alakh Singh was murdered in Ghaziabad on August 16, last year. As the local police could not get any break through, the probe was handed over to the STF recently by the state government.
Acting on a tip-off that principal accused Ahmed alias Prince was trying to enter Bihar with a stolen vehicle, the STF laid a trap and nabbed him near Ghazipur area of the state capital.
Two aides of the accused, Babloo Patel and Ghulam Hassan alias Chote were also arrested.
The Police recovered one US-made pistol, live cartridges, giletin rods and detonators from their possession. Besides contract killings, the gang was also involved in vehicle thefts.
He also confessed to killing Raman Bhadoria of Kanpur in the recent past.
Efforts were on to corroborate his claims even as a STF team was looking for lawyer's cousin Ajay Singh.
During preliminary investigations, the accused told police that Ajay Singh had paid him Rs 5 lakh to carry out the crime.
