Bhubaneswar, Nov 07 (UNI) After a month of kidnap, police finally rescued a nine-year-old boy and arrested the kidnapper couple from Rajmundry this morning.
Khurda Superintendent of Police Amitav Thakura told newsmen that one M Kishore Ray and his wife Itishree Patra, related to the kidnapped boy, were arrested from a house in Rajmundry by a special police team after a month long search.
Subash alias Tiki, son of S N Patra, a trader, was kidnapped on October 8 last from the State Capital while he was returning from tuition.
The kidnappers had demanded ransom ranging from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 40 lakh and threatened to kill the boy and remove his kidney if the amount was not paid.
The SP said the boy had telephoned to his neighbours on October 15 last and after that the parents received a letter written by the boy and a CD showing Subash tied in a rope.
Soon after the incident the police raided the Rasulgarh Industrial Estate and Mancheswar Industrial Estate but failed to trace the boy.
Police, Mr Thakur said, then went through the list of the kidnappers kept in all the major four police stations in the city, examined the details of 15,000 page calls and able to nab the kidnappers.
He said M Kishore Rao was earlier arrested in a kidnap case in 2001 and later married to Itishree whom she kidnapped. He was also earlier involved in a robbery case.
The boy, the SP said, was kept in the city till November 3 last and was taken to Rajmundry only three days back by the kidnappers.
