Former Minister sentenced in cheque bounce case
Chhindwara, MP, Nov 7 (UNI) A local court has sentenced former state minister Tejilal Saryam to one year rigorous imprisonment in a cheque bounce case and fined him Rs two lakh.
The former minister had procured items for decoration for characters of 'Ramlila mandlis' from Sharad Topiwala in 2003. A cheque given by the accused for Rs 1.80 lakh, however, was dishonoured by the SBI bank.
After personal attempts to recover the amount failed, Sharad Topiwala moved the court in April 2005.
Justice Nisar Ahmed delivered the verdict yesterday.
