Former India captain Umrigar dies
Mumbai, Nov 7 (UNI) Former India captain and one of the all time greats of Indian cricket Polly Umrigar passed away here this evening.
He was 80 and is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
Polly Umrigar had been undergoing chemotherapy after being detected with cancer for the last few months. His funeral will take place tomorrow morning, family sources told UNI.
Umrigar had played in 59 Test matches for India in a career spanning from the 1940s to the 1960s, scoring 3631 runs, an Indian record at that time, at an average of 42.
