Court declares Shahabuddin's writ as infructuous

Patna, Nov 7 (UNI) Patna High Court today declared the writ filed by controversial RJD MP Mohammed Shahabuddin for better treatment as "infructuous" following shifting of the petitioner to Siwan jail after treatment for his spinal problems.

A single bench of the court of Justice V N Sinha said there was no need to continue the writ as the petitioner was operated upon at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and was shifted back to Siwan jail.

The state government apprised the court during the day that the MP was being shifted to Siwan jail after his successful operation at AIIMS.

Earlier on the direction of court, Md Shahabuddin was sent to AIIMS for spinal chord treatment. Hearing the writ petition of Md Shahabuddin, the court one one hand asked the government for expediting proper treatment of the petitioner at AIIMS and also directed the government to hold the trial.
